Hey there! I am using Bluesky.
Are the OfS saying trans people are a special case, and people should be allowed to say transphobic things, or do they mean all groups can be the victim of hate speech? Either way, it's a pretty miserable position to take.

I don't mean to minimise Meta's egregious bulk copyright violation, but a LLM trained on a million textbooks might be more interesting than one trained on a billion Reddit shitposts.

NEW ZEALAND! It has been EIGHTEEN MONTHS since Gender Self-ID was made available, and THREE YEARS since the BDMRR Bill passed! And NOTHING BAD HAS HAPPENED! Not one case of it being misused or abused. Every single submission against it was WRONG. Anti-trans activists NEVER tell the truth.

Thank you
@natureportfolio.bsky.social
for making my review of the Anxious Generation open access for parents, policy-makers, and the public. The story told in this book runs counter science and is leading to poor policy decisions that will ultimately fail our kids.

The great rewiring: is social media really behind an epidemic of teenage mental illness?
The evidence is equivocal on whether screen time is to blame for rising levels of teen depression and anxiety โ and rising hysteria could distract us from tackling the real causes.

Beginning to understand why so many Americans are obsessed with trans issues and panicking about being replaced. They think there are 21x more trans people, 27x more muslims, 15x more jews, 5x more asians, 3x more black people, and 2x more immigrants than there actually are.

UK journalists talking about echo chambers when 0.2% of journalists are Black and 2.5% Asian and 51% of the most influential journalists went to private school is a bit of a joke

How cool is this: this is from the Bluesky firehose! What's so cool about this is: 1. The throwback style 2. That *any* dev can do this! Thanks to there being an API for this (no other social network allows this AFAIK) This API is a big reason to be bullish on Bluesky

Hereโs a starter pack of some of my favourite UK commentators - hopefully helpful to new joiners to get you going. (It is pretty balanced female/male although the Bluesky generated picture always seems to tilt male)
