As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen the Policy Studies Journal (PSJ) and honor the lasting contributions of its editorial leadership, I am pleased to announce the establishment of an Advisory Board of Editors Emeriti.

Waiting for the results of my annual health check has become more and more nerve-wracking each year. It’s not that I’m seriously ill or anything like that, but at my age, I remind myself that if something concerning comes up, I must be prepared to accept it.

Rinjisha Roy, one of my Public Policy Ph.D. students, helps with my research methods seminar as a TA this semester. She is explaining exercise questions for the first time to our graduate students. She did an excellent job.

Excited to share that Victor Akakpo, one of my Public Policy Ph.D. students, successfully passed his qualifying exam. It was a unanimous decision, and I am very proud of what he has achieved so far. Congratulations, Victor!

At the APSA meeting, I received a thoughtful question about how PSJ views the increasing use of text analysis, including machine learning and large language models (LLMs), in political science and policy research.

It was a long day, but I finally made it back safely to Fayetteville. I want to thank everyone who helped make this year’s APSA meeting truly special through their excellent scholarship, mentorship, friendship, and leadership. Take care!

Thrilled to hear that Ryan Ramaker, one of my Public Policy PhD students, gave an outstanding presentation of his co-authored paper at the APSA meeting this afternoon. This was his first time speaking at a conference, and I'm extremely proud of him. Congratulations!

I really appreciate Dr. Steven Sylvester’s leadership. He is a professor at Utah Valley, and I am sure he has a lot to handle there, but he did an excellent job leading the APSA Public Policy section business meeting this year. Just grateful for his contribution!

Had such a great time discussing the tech, policies, and politics of nuclear power/warfare. Awesome questions, lively conversations, and a perfect way to end the day. Big thanks to everyone who joined in!

PSJ began hosting the policy scholar reception at MPSA when Hank Jenkins-Smith was the editor. This tradition continued until disruptions occurred due to the pandemic and some financial issues. The last time we hosted the reception, it costed us about $8,000.

I received my new green card today, which is meant to be a replacement for my stolen one that expires next year. I had planned to renew it next year, but to my surprise, they decided to issue a new card that is valid for another 10 years. I really appreciate their decision.

Last April, my wallet was stolen at a crowded restaurant in Chicago, along with my green card. I submitted the replacement form immediately and finally received notification today that my new card has been issued. After nearly four months, I’m relieved I won’t have to worry about
