There are always more substantial barriers to protect people inside of cars. Meanwhile for those outside of cars, minimizing damage to cars is the priority. #VisionZero is a farce in San Diego.

I transferred from the 215 to the 1 at 30th street because the 215 had no AC and no air movement. It’s the same as the 215 on a crowded 235. It’s never been this bad in the evening on MTS as far as AC and air movement.

This has been a constant problem at this location for as long as this bike lane has existed. Protect the bike lane or #BanCars.

I was on my e-bike this morning on eastbound Lincoln waiting for a westbound car to clear the intersection before turning left onto Maryland. Then the person driving a car on southbound Maryland at a stop sign turned left into my path without even looking toward the right.

Garbage advice that everyone outside of a car must behave perfectly so that those driving can drive to kill. It is in no way normal that I need to take anti-anxiety medication before going outside because of cars. The behavior of people driving has gotten much worse in the past few years.

Los Angeles was affordable when it had zoning capacity for about 4-5x its population. The city slashed zoning capacity in the 70s. We’ve had persistent homelessness since the early 80s. This is not that complicated.

The only real consideration for better transit at the airport with the building of the new Terminal 1 was where a transit terminal would be located if better transit is ever extended to the airport. But there was no price too large for more car infrastructure for the airport.

The plan, such as there is one, seems to be a few years of fare increases combined with deteriorating service before maybe addressing funding. That’s how you get a transit death spiral. I’m still riding less than pre-pandemic because of service cuts.

San Diego mostly has wide streets and short buildings so it’s not difficult to increase density and create a tree canopy. But that requires considering people more important than cars.

They’ve passed the “Are you a civilized city?” test.

If that's my option for getting to Los Angeles by rail, I'll just fly to the Bay Area. That equipment is an exceptionally poor choice for the heavily-traveled Pacific Surfliner route. That's a huge Cartrans fail.

It is possible to reduce peak speeds with little change to overall travel times and that does make streets safer.

San Diego should close the parking lots at the airport until there’s an extension of grade-separated transit to the airport. That transit connection should have been a condition for building the new Terminal 1. No transit, no parking.

So they’re fine with hosting homeless encampments instead of allowing needed housing to be built?

As a UH resident, just build it already. We desperately need more housing. The only thing that's out of scale is the amount of space in UH devoted to surface parking. NIMBYs need to STFU.

On northbound Park, the bus lane needs to begin at C Street, not wait until the bridge over the 5. On Earth Day, I was delayed on the 7 or 215 by 20 minutes because of car congestion. Removing a portion of the bus lanes would show just how unserious the city is about improving transit.

I'm much less bothered by possible fare increases of 10 to 20 percent than by possible service cuts. Where my usage is less than pre-pandemic, it's mostly on routes that still have less service than pre-pandemic. I would be using MTS more if service were more frequent.

I'm not sure why they chose to include both O'Hare and Midway for Chicago, but only SFO and not Oakland for the Bay Area.

People opposed to bikes for transportation and wind and solar for power generation make very similar arguments in that if it's not good for every situation it shouldn't be used for any situation.
