BIG NEWS!!! I got a grant for MG & YA books to stock in my office!! My site is a Reach Out and Read office, so books for kids under 5 are covered, but I hate that we motivate kids to read and then stop building on that momentum as they become independent readers.

If you have a huge TBR pile from library book displays and online posts celebrating Black history month and feel like February is too short to read them all, I have great news!! You can read books by Black authors and illustrators ALL YEAR LONG!!!

My brother has new music out and if you need a lift from, you know…all this and everything, you should give him a listen! The Paris Buns, Songs for the End Times, now on all streaming platforms ❤️

Tonight I made soup which contained, among other things, small diced carrots. My 12 year old said his favorite part of the meal was the squarots which is now the only term for diced carrots, forever

My kids has a snow day today so they decided to weed their bookshelves and pass books down from one room to the other. I’ve been getting gleeful messages all day at work as they discover old favorites and pull books out to donate 🙂

The school theme today is glitter and bling, but we didn’t have any. Nothing a little gold washi tape and sparkly pipe cleaners can’t fix! We even made a firework pocket square!

Why, is it holiday attire and potluck day? Yes. Yes it is. Shout out to my one patient who said “those are weird antlers” 😂

Our 6th grader’s art project was to make a chia pet. I think he understood the assignment 🙂🐦❤️ Now, if only this thing would stop asking to drive the bus!

Two years ago, I started a book club, PediaLit, for pediatricians who want to use books to connect with their patients. We are only reading #KidLit 🙂 I’ll post our monthly selections here (I used to post these over…there) and on Instagram (same handle) if you want to read along!

I love going to the grocery store the day before Thanksgiving. Many people get a thrill from Black Friday, but for me, "Wegmans Wednesday" is where it's at. My family thinks this is bananas, and I would like to explain. (1/6)

Today was not great. I called my husband to say I would be late for dinner, and he asked me if I wanted to take my time, go to the library and browse a little first, and come home when the kids were ready for bed. I suggest marrying someone like this ❤️

There's a meme going round that begins: "Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you..." My challenge to you now, is to imagine how different your life might be if you'd never read them, and share _that_. These are the futures we're robbing from kids every time a book is banned.

My favorite tea has been discontinued. In winter, no less! I think everyone got this memo before me because it’s gone everywhere 😢
