It is opening weekend for Dinosaur Exploration 2! Here’s what you need to know: 🕤 We’re open 9:30am - 4:30 daily. 🎟️ Admission can only be purchased here. Prices range from $6 for youth to $10 for an adult. There are family rates, senior and student rates, and children 5 and younger are free!

Gus has…shall we say…mixed feelings about winter and its snowstorms. The #Museum of Natural History is reopening today, January 27th, at 1:00pm. Admission is by donation, and not all exhibit areas are open. Please note, there may be unpredictable machine noise throughout Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Common Loon (AKA Stupid Canadian wolf bird) is a large bird, almost 1 m in length and weighing as much as 5.5 kg. It is well known for its haunting call and its extraordinary ability to swim underwater.

After 66 million years, history still leaves a mark. February 2026.

#NovaScotia is home to many different types of #bees, like bumblebees, sweat bees, honeybees, and leafcutter bees. This is a leafcutter bee. Leafcutter bees are in the genus Megachile. This name means large lips/mouth, which this bee definitely has!

In 2012, Patrick Keating and his dog, Kitty, teamed up to make an incredible fossil discovery on a Nova Scotia beach on the Northumberland Strait. What they found in rocks along the shore was the rib cage, backbone and partial sail of a sail-back amphibian – the first ever discovered here.

#BrookFloaters are THREATENED #SpeciesAtRisk in Nova Scotia. The freshwater mussel is a small to medium-sized that grows to 70 mm and appears as a kidney shape. The outer shell is a mixed colour of yellowish to brownish black, while the inner shell is white or bluish. #NSWildifeSpotlight
