The UCP would win re-election today under the current existing boundaries that were drawn in 2017 and the majority report’s map, but the minority report’s map would make it basically impossible for the NDP to ever win in enough ridings to form a majority government — and that’s the point.

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

This response from the ethics commissioner is an indictment of AB's public office ethics legislation & no exoneration of Mr Yager. The fact that Ms Smith has just reappointed Mr Yager confirms that real ethics, as opposed to narrow legislated ethics, don't mean a thing to her.

The judge mentions EPS lawyer Megan Hankewich by name & suggests her actions were similar to those of former Justice Minister Kaycee Madu, who called the EPS chief over a distracted driving ticket (faced law society discipline for it). Seems to be an implication there.

Independence would shift, not like erase redistribution. Calgary and Edmonton would further subsidize rural regions in bust times. High-income earners in Alberta would subsidize low-income Albertans. That’s how modern tax systems work.
