My dad is dead. Growing up, he taught me that the best way to remove a bandaid is by ripping it off quickly. So that's what he did days before I graduated college. He ripped off the bandaid and sent me out to face the last half of my life alone. Our relationship was...different...

Attended a funeral, did a guest bartending gig (working on my new signature cocktail), home for the end of the Knicks game, and then off into the night I go again. Staying busy not working as well as it once did.

Strong client sent out an SOS last night. One of the hardest parts of this job is when a strong one finally breaks. I'm intimately familiar with just how much has occurred to get them to that point and how there's never anyone around brave enough to help gather the pieces...

I hate when there are photographers at events, because I'm trying to avoid them the whole time. Just saw the social media post for this week's training and they caught me four times. Three pics of my hair and one of my chest. I half succeeded in being invisible.

One of the more obvious signs that I have no love in my life, and perhaps the hardest to bear, is that it's after office hours on a Friday, I feel like death, it's a nonstop day, and I do not have a cortado on my desk. I would go get one myself, but everything closed 4 minutes ago.

Also. Been very fortunate to reconnect with an old friend through this. We're silly together and having mini adventures to stay sane and it's so refreshing to not be limited to people who have no personality outside of work and screaming about politics. Yes, everything sucks, but have hobbies.

I had vocal/performance coaching as part of this week-long training hell and was quickly outed as a member of the theater kid to trial attorney pipeline. Also, people told me I looked nice today. I have a new favorite outfit.
