Getting reports that yet another young teenager is fighting for their life against bacterial meningitis here in South Carolina. We need state-focused efforts to improve vaccine education. Our children are paying a terrible price. A “rare” disease like this has clearly found a home in our state.

As a disabled woman I used to be afraid to watch the world speed past me. It’s taken a lot of work to enjoy my own place and pace, but it’s so worth it. Dare I say I prefer it.

When folks get annoyed by accessibility accommodations and having to “work around” them remember disabled people are constantly having to working around an inaccessible world every day.

Insurance companies should not be making medical decisions. Period.

I was supposed to have a test done today that is only done an hour away. The nearest hospital is 40 minutes. Insurance won’t approve it because it’s not in my neighborhood despite going to the same hospital system for 20 years now. I’m sorry they don’t do ultrasounds in corn fields and swamps???

We can’t expect each other to be perfect, but we can always make an effort to be better.

I think the next industry I’m going to be bailing on spending $ with is fast food. I cannot order from any place without something being missing or wrong, no exaggeration. The few workers are overworked and underpaid. It just doesn’t feel sustainable any longer for me as a consumer, at least.

To those who think it’s ok to make fun of someone’s disability or mobility aid simply bc they are M*GA please know you are generalizing people as “bad” because of their disability. It’s called ableism and it’s not okay. It’s not up to you to decide whats okay for a community you’re not a part of.

There are a million other ways to insult someone besides using their mobility device. I know Congresswoman Crockett can do better.

I had emergency booster frozen yogurt for lunch because: 1. I had a good PT session despite feeling crappy. 2. I choked on my meds this morning (yeah that’s happening now) and my throat is very angry. 3. Supposedly I’m an adult and I wanted frozen yogurt for lunch.

Thinking of all of the dollars we would’ve spent at Target so far this year. Valentine’s Day, birthdays, little splurges just because. A grocery here or there. Now, nada. It was overdue, really. Dollar General has been the spot for a while now anyways.
