Part of this is because all journalists are being paid badly, but that's made much worse by the fact that the audience for comics news is small! It may feel big because it's our lives, but this is a very niche market!!

Do we need to have journalistic standards? Yes. But also, if your comic or news story isn't getting coverage, it's not because critics and journalists aren't doing their jobs - it's cause most people are doing this part time and are being paid either very little or nothing to do it.

The big point here being that the comics industry constantly whines about not having film-tier journalism without recognizing that they're honestly lucky anyone is covering comics at all.

Part of Whatever's Next for America has got to be reminding people that there are libraries, and, if you have nice friends, they'll let you use their stuff. You don't need FrendBorrowr or whatever service if you have human relationships and are connected to your community.
