As a long-time fan of Dark Souls fandom, I’m delighted to report that possibly the most influential content creator in that space is posting again. EpicNameBro on YouTube just uploaded a Demon’s Souls Remake let’s play, and if you’re a Souls fan or game scholar into the series this is a must-watch.

Obsession is basically everything I want in a horror movie. It was perfectly scary. The pacing was fine-tuned to keep me from ever getting too overwhelmed. It would calm me down in one moment and bring in a bit of levity, just to make the next moment even more upsetting. Super good!

Just got my beautiful copy of The Scholar’s Codex from @tuneandfairweather.bsky.social. Congrats to the contributors and editing team for pulling this off! From what I’ve read so far, it’s very compelling. I love seeing academic works meld with and celebrate fan culture like this.

My last post about Slay the Spire 2 was wrong. Or I’m a hypocrite, whichever. I finally ascended with the Doom build I’ve always wanted and I now HAVE to stop playing this so I can write my dissertation. Really looking forward to returning for 1.0 one day!

Yep. In fact, the real failing of students was when we stopped requiring them to regularly search a library catalogue for their reading and instead produced lists with hyperlinks that students simply had to click. As soon as they have to go off list, they’re lost.

Not to complain about having more of a good thing, but I can’t help but be a little disappointed with Slay the Spire 2. I like the new characters and the new cards, but I don’t feel like it’s different enough from the first game for me to put as many hours into it as I did the first.
