@bsky.app please add the option to mute terms from the context menu on iOS when selecting text. It’s pretty tedious having to go deep into the settings for that. Also it would be fantastic to apply muting to text found in images, though I appreciate that is less straightforward.

I ate tonight at my favourite Japanese place in Amsterdam, which is run by people from the city I lived in in Japan and it’s like a layer cake of nostalgia going there. Speaking a bit of Dutch and a bit of Hakata-ben, being back in my old neighbourhood, eating Japanese comfort food. So lovely.

The thing about England is that it *is* shit. Like, measurably, it’s best days are well behind it and perhaps a couple of centuries of global dominance has bred both a sense of superiority and a level of comfort which creates a barrier to either imagining, or creating a fundamentally better country.

I’ve been back in Amsterdam for less than 12 hours and I’m already plotting how to move back. The only place that I don’t feel a fraud calling home. Gonna have to try real hard to not be miserable being here all week knowing I have to go back to England.

Doing my bit to ease the housing affordability crisis. Might be a while before it is providing for all of our brunch needs but it’s quite jolly seeing it grow so quickly.

I need to be able to buy this specific furikake in 1kg bags because my god a smattering this in some rice with a glugg of soy sauce and a bit of butter if you’re feeling extravagant is so unbelievably delicious I could eat it every day.

I was doing some tidying up in the playroom earlier and lifted a floorboard to have a look what was underneath it. This side of the house is built on lower ground so there is a basement at one end and then this weirdly deep but not basement-deep void under this room. It’s maybe 1.2m at its deepest.

Had my favourite swim of the year this morning. I ducked out of the sauna to cool off and the sea had suddenly calmed down a bit after a lightning storm had been hanging over the shore all morning so I ran in and dived into a big wave and let it throw me around for a bit. Glorious.
