One detail I appreciated about the 2006 remake of 'The Wicker Man' is that the name of the missing girl was changed from Rowan Morrison to Rowan Woodward. This is most likely a reference to the surname of the actor that played the protagonist in the original movie; Edward Woodward.

I don't think I will do a Top 10 on the Powerpuff Girls season 4. Partly because it was around this time when I started losing interest, and moved on to other things... ... but it's mainly because the season is literally 10 episodes long. XD There's nothing to pick from!

I just finished the 2024 Best Picture Oscars. Here's how I would rank them (1 being the best, 10 being the worst).

INTERESTING MOVIES 19 - Comfort and Joy (Bill Forsyth, 1984), 1 h. 46 min. A radio host tries to find some meaning after his spouse leaves him, and ends up becoming an involved observer of a conflict between two ice cream families. It's set during Christmas too, so it's a Christmas-movie.

The Sonic Game that Launched a Thousand Angry Youtube Screechers.

INTERESTING MOVIES 18 - Black Moon (Louis Malle, 1975), 1 h. 40 min. Malle's most standout production, filled to the brim with an otherworldly oddness that cannot be described. It simply must be seen to be believed.

INTERESTING MOVIES 17 - A Trick of the Light (Wim Wenders, 1995), 1 h. 19 min. In true Wim Wenders fashion, this documentary goes over the early days of the camera, blending all kinds of storytelling and presentation techniques.

INTERESTING MOVIES 16 - Trabalhar Cansa/Hard Labor (Marco Dutra & Juliana Rojas, 2011), 1 h 39 min. Owning a convenience store isn't all that it's cracked up to be, especially when there's something rotten hidden underneath the surface.

INTERESTING MOVIES 15 - A Liar's Autobiography: The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman (Bill Jones, Jeff Simpson & Ben Timlett, 2012), 1 h. 25 min. A movie about Graham Chapman, done in the weird and bizarre fashion you've come to expect from Monty Python.

INTERESTING MOVIES 14 - Manifesto (Julian Rosefeldt, 2015), 1 h. 35 min. Starting out as an art installation, it got compiled into a feature length movie. Cate Blanchett plays not one, not two, but 12 different characters, all monologuing to the camera.

INTERESTING MOVIES 13 - We Come as Friends (Hubert Sauper, 2014), 1 h. 50 min. A documentary about South Sudan, which also doubles as a documentation on the continued colonization of the African continent.

INTERESTING MOVIES 12 - Risttuules/In the Crosswind (Martti Helde, 2014), 1 h. 30 min. The retelling of the mass deportations to Siberia, done with deeply emotional and beautifully composited shots. A majority of the movie is shown in freeze frames, and the camera sort of "walks" through them.

I feel like doing another Top 10, so let's go back to the Powerpuff Girls for a moment, and do Season 3.

INTERESTING MOVIES 11 - Plastic Semiotic (Radu Jude, 2021), 22 min. A whole life portrayed through a long line of beautifully composed vignettes of toys.

You mean he hasn't got one already?! Then it's about time he got one.

INTERESTING MOVIES 10 - Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid (Carl Reiner, 1982), 1 h. 28 min. Another film noire pastiche? Yeah, but one that makes Steve Martin act alongside Golden Age-giants like Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman through the use of archive footage. Oddly brilliant idea!

The story is still being worked on; I even have a few WIPs here to prove that the comic is still very much in progress.

INTERESTING MOVIES 9 - Habfürdö/Bubble Bath (György Kovásznai, 1979), 1 h. 19 min. Hungarian animation at its most bizarre. Part comedy, part relationship drama, part musical; it's a blend of both styles and genres that you will not forget easily.

I still remember when they joked about that in one of the Brawl Taunts-videos.

INTERESTING MOVIES 8 - Babfilm/Scenes with Beans (Ottó Foky, 1976), 12 min. Ever wanted to see an animated short with beans? Well, here you go.

INTERESTING MOVIES 7 - The Sin of Harold Diddlebock/Mad Wednesday (Preston Sturges, 1947), 1 h. 29 min. Harold Lloyd's last on screen appearance is also a (kind of) sequel to 1925's 'The Freshman'. Wouldn't surprise me if it was an inspiration for 'The Hangover'.

I guess I'm a bottom.

Well, that title was a lie. It's the 'Super Mario Galaxy, Odyssey, Wonder and Sunshine Movie'.

INTERESTING MOVIES 6 - The Infinite Man (Hugh Sullivan, 2014), 1 h. 25 min. A time loop-movie; a guy tries to fine-tune a botched date, going back time and time again until he gets it right. He even meets past and future versions of himself, displaying the concept of personal growth through time.

INTERESTING MOVIES 5 - La Casa Lobo/The Wolf House (Joaquín Cociña & Cristóbal León, 2018), 1 h. 15 min. Stop motion that makes use of all the surrounding space; an entire room becomes part of the storytelling. Took five years to complete, and you can definitely tell.

INTERESTING MOVIES 4 - Mouthpiece (Patricia Rozema, 2018), 1 h. 31 min. A character study unlike anything you've, most likely, never seen before or since; one person, portrayed by two polar opposite interacting personas.

INTERESTING MOVIES 3- The Automatic Motorist (Walter R. Booth, 1911), 10 min. A fully realized remake of the director's own movie 'The ? Motorist' from 1906. A visually dynamic drive through the impossible.

INTERESTING MOVIES 2 - The Big Swallow/A Photographic Contortion (James Williamson, 1901), 1 min. 8 sec. Much like many shorts of its era, this is more a visual experiment than a narrative. It completely obliterates the fourth wall in a unique fashion.

And thus, Toy Story 4 was rendered completely obsolete.

INTERESTING MOVIES 1 - La Folie du Docteur Tube/The Madness of Dr. Tube (Abel Gance, 1915), 10 min. An early example of visual distortion being portrayed in film form. Since there were no distortion lenses at the time, the desired effect was achieved with mirrors. Very disorienting.
