Cool house concert in a lovely location last night. Had fun trying out some new songs, originals and covers.

The high notes in the prechorus of Depending On You do such a wonderful job of opening up that song and letting it breathe. Also love the chorus melody of Whole Wide World. Real strong stuff on the new Stones album! #HackneyDiamonds

Heute Musikmeile Wiesentheid. Spielen in einem Pfarrheim/Gemeindezentrum. Das letzte Mal in einem Pfarrheim war vor dem Abi, ca 1988.

First time I‘m reading a Philip Kerr novel outside of the Bernie Gunther series. Oh, it’s wonderful, dry stuff. There are more Kerr treasures out there, yay!

What’s your favorite deep cut by the Stones? I really really love Moon Is Up from Voodoo Lounge. It’s driven by Charlie’s drums and got an unusual, maybe Tom Waits kinda vibe. I also love the live version of Just My Imagination that’s on Still Life. What a gorgeous song!

Oh man. More Than A Whisper is a beautiful tribute to the great & wonderful Nanci Griffith. My man Steve Earle delivers! Love the Lyle Lovett track, Prine, Shawn Colvin, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Todd Snider and more in fine form! It’s a worthy tribute!

Made a couple of friends here & there this summer.

Super cool art project in Bratislava. From 250 kg of cellophane wrap they built a structure in a big market hall for kids to crawl around in. Spectacular!

Very good day yesterday with not one but two beautiful gigs. Played a lot of new songs and they went over very well. For some reason a lot of summer outdoor gigs require playing a bunch of covers. But I had listening audiences yesterday and played all original stuff. Felt very good.
