Trump's economic policies are really the dream of economists obsessed with perfect identification strategies: most of his policies are completely randomly assigned/not correlated with current or past macroeconomic events. He is politically hideous, but at least he is the econometrist's best friend.

The more I work on constructing large datasets, the more I appreciate theoretical work. At least with theory, I can avoid the time-consuming, repetitive and mindless task of data collection. Besides - controversial point - I really doubt that very bold points can be made with empirical work.

Social media is good to complain about the world. So, here I am complaining about something. The OECD data explorer is simply terrible. They discontinued OECD stat well before having a stable version of their new platform. The site crushes every time. It is terrible.
