I grew up in WY. We had 100s of Mexican migrant workers come in every summer for harvests, a few doz stayed year round. A defining event was listening to a church deacon laughing and telling my dad (a farm laborer) how he tore up the pay checks for anyone who couldn't answer questions in English.
