Last night it was gentle and kind Northern birds. Today an invasion of big noisy nordie birds, their pale bellies unused to sunlight and their honking disturbing our sea front like an out of control hen party. But I like them, coming ahead of the cold.

While Doomers accept the inevitability of extinction there is still important work to be done. First, we must tell the truth. Then we must invite people to prepare in as generous and stoical way as is possible. Nobody really wants to do this and the few Doomers are unlikely to win against ignorance.

Our consciousness is a slave living in our bodily plantation and doing all the work while we abuse it with our own servile consciousness. But I would think that. Now excuse me while I tell the cotton it must pick itself.

Poetry is just philosophy for people too lazy to do the hard thinking. Philosophy is just science for people too lazy to do the hard sums. Science is just poetry for people too lazy to do the hard living. Hard living is for those busy dying. Rinse and repeat.

What would it be like if there really was a massive conspiracy by the fools to extinguish life on Earth? I imagine it would be like business as usual. Strangely comforting.

The light of consciousness much admired by Musk is a light that would never want to go to Mars. A consciousness that destroys a habitable planet for greed and cruelty does not deserve to exist outside its own scrapyard.

I always felt Extinction Rebellion were badly named as they were neither pro Extinction nor pro Rebellion. If anything they were against extinction which is a bit like being against sunshine or against rain. And both extinction and rebellion just created a frisson of neo goth hormonal excitement.

Sometimes, when I am addressing a Doomer Convention, I like to imagine that they too are fully dressed.

We need a collective noun for a gathering of Doomers. Ideas?

The world is full of heroes. I’m not one. Under torture from the immutable lawmen I spill the beans immediately. I tout out the guilty parties, their lairs and their Co conspirators. The world is full of heroes who refuse to say a word.

For the life of me I can’t understand why Doomers are such miserable bastards. This world was made expressly for Doomers, filled as it is with extinction mania, war, injustice, genocide, famine, fire, drought and probably another album from Taylor Swift.

Reality may be overrated but really it’s all we have. The dull grinding unforgiving gears of some ignorant biotic machine.

As you know, I don’t like boasting and gloating about how the Doomers are always right about everything but in the case of COP it seems too easy to score the easy goal. COP is the textbook example of our collective madness, the endless repetition of failure colliding with the dream of success.

When you accept Doom as your Saviour it’s not just for the boasting and gloating about inevitable near term extinction, it’s also a clarion call asking us to depart with decency and generosity and a spirit of stoical regret. But mostly, it’s about the honesty and the courage.

Is the Matrix glitching? My posts rarely get more than a few likes so imagine my chagrin when an inocuous post got 137 likes. Bluesky said it was the biggest number of likes ever but I refused their ticker tape parade because I’m a Grumpy Old Doomer.

It was a mistake to let the men in suits take over the asylum. It seems like nothing ever good came from putting a man in a suit in charge of anything. The revolution will be brief but sartorial.

Air traffic controlling is a piece of piss. You just have to remind pilots not to fall asleep and not to be crashing into other planes. Something most car drivers do every day.
