I found a late night student place in University City and got vegetable tempura. Half of it is just fries and the seasoning is amazing. Bless the two stoners outside who recommended it.

My food hot take is that "late night food" had to be open to at least midnight. 10:30, your kitchen closes at 10, that's not late. That regular evening.

My life hack is never cut up a squad to roast it. You don't even need to cut holes in it. It will not explode. Just wash it, dry it, and stick it in the oven.

“Average musician makes $12 a month on Spotify. The fact that they are not even able to sell a record and it’s taken from them by rich motherfuckers on streaming platforms who get paid royally by record labels,Ticketmaster, merch companies. They’re all fucking getting paid, except for the musician.”

Garbage’s Shirley Manson Speaks Out Against Music Industry Economics: “This Is An Alarm Call”

patrons are literally the only viable options creators have to survive right now. literally. myself included. and we're punished for panhandling, essentially. sponsoring artist for the art they want to make, not for the art they CAN make for YOU, has to be normalized and encouraged.

There are a lot of people masking at this show but it's still below 50%. I cannot stress enough how much creators should mask, I haven't gotten sick after a con since I started.

I can tell who is and isn't my target demographic by their reaction when they open a comic to the elderly tiddy sphinx. Not everyone wants an ancient hag.

I have NO insider info on this yet but enough ppl have been hitting me up about it that I figure it's easier to just give my read on the situation in 1 go: Humanoids has a Paris branch & a Los Angeles branch. The LA branch is closing, but Paris (while also in a French version of Ch.11) is staying.

Paperbacks are meant to be destroyed. Write in the margins, underline, highlight your favorite passage, break the spines. It's one of the ultimate failings of audiobooks that they cannot be defaced with love. You will be amazed rereading your notes at who you were when you first read this.

Is it a coincidence that my entry into this book coincides with the book releasing in hot pink/black, my favorite and most frequently used color combo? Who can say. This launches tomorrow though and I'm in it.

I can tell I'm made of different stuff because I'm still doing my morning bike in the same gear I've used all summer (light zip up, leggings), and I passed 4 people with balaclavas and winter gloves. I am a stoat.

Spooky print night as I get ready for SLICE 2025. I found one more deck of casino cards so I'm making another round of Vermin Totems. Back to using the Caligo ink because, honestly, I just like it more than the speedball. Even the speedball black, which is the best one.

Comics have too many words. It's a visual medium, there's so much you can do with silence, art needs to breathe. Sometimes it seems like writers are just adding more words to prove how much work they did. Also SFX will always look better drawn into the page by the artist.

I think one of the major problems with making "Alien" a franchise is that a significant number of entries in the oeuvre don't need, and would in fact be better, without the titular alien. All they want is to ape H R Giger and tell stories about androids and sometimes, oh no, scary alien. Yawn.

Tim Sale is one of the reasons I bothered with comics at all. I can't imagine looking at his work with anything other than absolute glee. One of those artists who could throw a massive pile of black into a page.

Denim test on the lino prints is...mixed. A lot of the detail is lost in the process. I think the rat is the most successful, and the pigeons are way too delicate to even try. If I make patches, I think I have to carve blocks just for that.
