Work in Progress: Ryo Noda’s Improvisation 2 😇 I am enjoying exploring different sound concepts in my playing. I got to perform for UNR’s concert class last week and had a great time! I’m going to be working on leaning more into the improvisatory nature and the elements of shakuhachi flute next 💪

Shoutout to the judge mental old man playing French horn in front of me who turned around and made eye contact every time I struggled playing the lowest notes of the bassoon at pianissimo. Sorry grandpa, I’m a saxophonist who hasn’t played bassoon in years and is fighting for his life 🙃🤣

I don’t understand the rural vs city discourse. Everyone has different places for being where they lived and each community (whether rural or city) has a totally different vibe. I’m more of a city person because I feel safer as a queer person, but not all people have that same experience.

I hate having misophonia 🥲 I legitimately tossed my phone across the room while watching a YouTube video because they started eating and the sounds were atrocious

I may not have a Spotify wrapped this year, but I sleep well knowing I’m not supporting that platform anymore.

I can’t possibly throw these reeds away. They’re too expensive in the first place 😭 The pains of a woodwind doubler 😮‍💨 Anywayyyyy…there may or may not be a scepter in progress with reeds from this semester as they die 😅

Through a partnership with the Gabriela Lena Frank Creative Academy of Music, our students will learn from one of America’s leading composers, attend premiere #musicalproductions & network with #musicindustry professionals. Frank serves as 2025-26 University Artist in Residence. #musicatpacific

Other things we do: We offer mini grants to help local kids access private music and dance lessons or take classes at the local theatre. We also award scholarships to local high school seniors majoring in performing arts. And we host fundraising for all 4 high school band programs.
