Just want to put this out there to see The more revision sessions a school puts on the less students revise. Feel like students need the responsibility of doing it for themselves

thought I'd get away from this in 2 weeks but I'm maths today I taught my wife about metric weight conversion after I moved 3 tonnes of stone in 2 days by myself (50 bags per tonne) at one point she said "at least the stuff going on top will be lighter because the stones are smaller" 😂

My pet peeve in lessons I've observed recently is 100% printing a worksheet that a student isnt allowed to write on. Like if it is that vital your worksheet is printed then let them write on it

Also just really curious as to what people believe makes a difference? There are so many strategies around revision and intervention that have been shown not to work but we fall back on them in a last ditch attempt out of desperation

Had year 11 for a token 20 minutes between mocks and they were having an interesting debate about what's harder being a primary teacher or secondary, unanimously primary (including me). Not one student thought it was an easy job either 🤔

after 2 lessons away on a course I think my year 11s have realised the best thing for them to do in their maths lessons is to sit listen and do the work. Was a pleasant surprise!

Listening to an American commentate on cricket is like seeing a PE teacher in a suit on parentes evening. Like I known it's your job and you're more than qualified to do this but something still isn't quite right

love teaching compound/simple interest as it's the only time I can put my undergraduate degree to good use and explain how the Mona Lisa wouldn't exist without the introduction of charging interest in banking

Can I add a justification 5? It's not why we get into the profession. No teacher signs up for this because they want to hand out detentions. It takes years to fully understand the necessity of it(?)

With the amount of medical professionals I've taken my son to see in his short life so far and the amount of schools I've worked at/ visited in my decade+ in education I've made plenty of comparisons between the NHS and the education sector and there's one standout comparison
