(Featuring artwork by @cloudytheartist.bsky.social) Battle... I seldom ever admit to anyone the true exhilaration I feel when in the fight. I never tell them of the joy I feel when I start swinging my blade. I certainly never tell them the euphoria that rushes through me when I kill my enemies.

Over a week now and all I've been able to find is that the sickness isn't normal. The scholar I found said that magic can't be ruled out. The temple only knows that the spirits know something is wrong. I saw some of the sick not long ago... I can't get the screaming out of my mind...

It seems whatever sickness happened to me is happening to a lot of other people as well. Unlike me they're not getting better. The doctors I talked to said the medicine they used on me helps, but most of them don't have the fortitude I do. Some of them have already died.

It's on night like this where I remember the tales of how people like me are made. My brother used to tell us a story about a foolish elf who only wanted power. The elf met a dragon who asked only for a seed to be given to one of his servants in exchange for the power he sought.

The temple didn't seem to have anything concrete about whatever it was. All they knew is that it wasn't a spirit, but it was unmistakably wicked. I don't know of any demon who could reach through dreams; or any magic like that. What thing could reach out like that? Why come to me?

It has been some time since I was able to write. I'm not sure what infection I was afflicted with, but the doctor said I'm in good enough condition to leave his care at sunrise. He has given me medicine and soup to drink. It's a pity I do not know who made the incense they use; it eases the breath.

The grassy planes of my homeland always had a certain charm to them. Whenever I found myself angered I could always imagine it as a battlefield. Every swing of my crystaline blade, every breath of elemental fury, every movement was made with the intent of bloodshed. I find it the best way to train.

My name is Aedric. I was born twenty five years ago and have been traveling the land for about seven. I grew up as the second of three siblings with my older brother and younger sister. This is a journal of my adventures and whatever else comes to mind I suppose.
