European. I like films, languages, science. she/her
Just FYI, this is a pet that may have been taught this behaviour, but if you see a dog doing this don't approach it, it is possibly very stressed, in pain, or about to throw up

Sometimes you see Trump doing outrageous stuff and think, how can he get away with it? It's because of how previous left wing governments paved the road for him. This is what that looks like in the UK

Today I was a bit dumb and did a hike that was much too hard for me and I was very under prepared for. I'm abroad and I think I almost got heatstroke. It's always really embarrassing thinking of what the emergency services would say if I fainted or broke an ankle...

The week I've been watching Columbo (the episodes are free on YouTube!). I've been surprised how beautifully crafted each episode is. I've always loved a whodunnit and I like the format flip ('howcatchem'). Falk is just so damn charming, I can see why this is such a classic

This week I watched Red Rooms (Les Chambres Rouges). I thought it was fantastic: well-acted, tense, and thought-provoking, however there's a massive warning for deeply disturbing themes and content. Unlike Roger Ebert I liked the ending. The climax (in the courthouse) is fantastic (and so horrible)

This week I read Love Needs No Words by James Hunt. I've followed his Instagram account (@ storiesaboutautism) for years and I think the book is really pitched at his followers. However, it's easy to read and very warm and honest. It feels like a very valuable insight into a world we wouldn't see

I did a big spring clean this weekend. This past year I've been using an app called Tody to keep on top of cleaning (which frankly I'm still pretty bad at), it's very satisfying and I really recommend it

I think it's so wonderful to see this level of honesty and humility from a Labour MP. I'm pleased for the Green by-election win but there are still great individual Labour MPs, I hope they're listened to more

I always struggle with the 'x technology takes away jobs' argument because I really do think more efficiency/reducing human labour is good, I just wish we had the economic system to allow people to work less. But I just can't bring myself to be in favour of people doing unnecessary work

So I also don't want kids but when women talk or post photos about the difficulties of pregnancy and childbirth, can we stop with the comments about "thanks for the free birth control" "I could never" "where's the girl with the list" etc etc it's so rude

We hear about the legitimate concerns of white working class communities a lot from the British hard-right, think they’ll care about these horrific and very legitimate concerns? Being a black baby in the UK shouldn’t make you 81% more likely to die in the NHS

Maybe I'm missing something about the Platner issue, I haven't followed it from the beginning. To me it seems like he got a pretty common symbol tattooed, not realising it's also commonly associated with Nazis, and then covered it when he found out it was. Surely that's OK?

The global whaling industry experienced a boom c. 1840-1950 as technology allowed whalers to hunt the Southern Ocean around Antarctica. Under standard models, we would have expected krill populations to have *exploded*. Instead, they DROPPED exponentially. Let's talk about the KRILL PARADOX.
