USDOT is now seeking to freeze funding on all projects that support cycling, walking, transit, rail expansion, and all projects designed to offset climate change, including EV infrastructure. Hey y’all, I got really sick. So, I’ve pushed tomorrow’s basic bike maintenance workshop to next Tuesday, the 18th. 6 pm at Raleigh Brewing.

Today we performed 10 walk-up repairs, donated two bikes, gave away 6 helmets, 10 cable locks, 10 u-locks, and 6 light sets for free in 2 hours with 5 volunteers.

RDU's Board is holding a public meeting this Wednesday, where you can sign up to share your comments about the future of the land that is Lake Crabtree Park. The meeting will begin at 4:00 PM, with public comments starting at 5:00 PM at the RDU Center, located at 1000 Trade Drive.

Vision Zero is beginning the public input process for their Safe Streets For All action plan. First session is tomorrow at Barwell Rd Community Center. This location, like most of the locations for these sessions, are unsafe and fairly inaccessible for bike and ped. This should be #1 on the agenda.

Cargo commute to our flat repair class at Raleigh Brewing.

Word is that the cones occupying the bike lane on Oberlin Rd are due to water “ponding.” Since the city has safety concerns because of this water pooling and potential icing in some spots, they have closed the bike lane until the matter can be addressed… stay safe out there!

What a time to be alive when transportation departments are running low on bike/pedestrian funding because they must make unexpected, major repairs to highways damaged by climate-fueled natural disasters, just so cars and trucks can regain access and continue to exacerbate climate change.

“No one ever uses the bike lane…” How amazing bikes are that they provide no exhaust, no noise pollution, and take up such little space, that people still fail to notice their overwhelming existence.

Indy Week made the decision to include "Bike Lanes - Wake Co." as a nominee for their "Biggest Waste of Money" category in the annual Best of the Triangle awards. OK, sure, keep pushing the status quo and force people into unsafe situations when all we want is to bike home alive.
