New publication in @nature.com Neuroscience from our collaboration with the Olson Lab (@ucdavis.bsky.social) and the Heifits Lab (Stanford). The study demonstrates that TBG—a non-hallucinogenic analogue of 5-MeO-DMT—can promote cortical neuroplasticity without inducing hallucinogenic effects.

Kiara Wiggins is a Ph.D. Candidate at UC Irvine and used a Translucence tissue clearing kit to clear mouse pituitary glands as part of her research on how inflammation affects women's reproductive health and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

Heidi Fresenius is a Postdoctoral Scholar at UC Irvine. Using their established antibodies and the Translucence Universal Tissue Clearing Kit, Heidi cleared ~50 µm mouse brain sections for a pilot experiment, followed by imaging on both wide field and confocal microscopes.

Obtain more robust data on recent neuronal activity with Npas4. The immediate-early gene (IEG), cFos, is a go-to marker for detecting neuronal activity. However, cFos expression is also associated with other signaling pathways, limiting its specificity as a pure marker of neuronal activity.
