Tried out the Delian Tomb starter adventure for Draw Steel today. I enjoyed how streamlined it was that I was able to run 20 monsters and it wasn't a slog. Lots of positioning and forced movement kept things dynamic. The heroic abilities in later encounters felt impactful with evocative names

Read a couple gorgeous graphic novels recently, the Paul Jenkins' Sentry compilation and Julien Blondel's vision of Michael Moorcock 's Elric. I was already familiar with both stories but the visuals were striking and a tribute to the medium. #25booksin2025

17 hours in the car and hundreds of miles later and back home again from GenCon. Felt like waking up from a dream this morning until I saw the pile of laundry and merch on my floor 😅 Now back to work and organizing this week's local PF/SF tables. The gaming never stops! 🎲

Took a terrain crafting class this morning, then voyaged on the USS GenCon bridge simulator and now time for True Dungeon. Cosplay cabaret and gamers live tonight!

Started off GenCon with Critical Putt mini golf, then got the new Draw Steel dice from Chessex, painted a Warhammer mini, and now gonna demo Daggerheart. Running the Starfinder special tonight!

And now we do the spend an hour and try to remember how to play True Dungeon phase of GenCon prep 😅

Read The Atrocity Archives by Charles Stross. Fun story about a UK spy bureaucracy amid techno occult cosmic horror. The afterword where the author breaks down his references and talks about similar stories was a wonderful addition I'd love to see for other books. #25booksin2025

Continuing to grab books from the library out of whimsy with Spooky New England by SE Schlosser. 30 short campfire tales of delightful haunted folklore. I really liked all the normal life adjacent magical happenings, especially The Sign at Sir Charles. Quite fun #25booksin2025

Picked up the Young Avengers omnibus for the first 15 issues of Gillen and McKelvie's 2013 run. Some very creative layouts and a fun opening volume, not much notable after that. I love my local library having such an extensive graphic novel collection. It's the best. #25booksin2025

Rounding out my first 25 books for #25booksin2025 with Dreadful by Caitlin Rozakis. A Dark Wizard loses his memory and can't recall why he kidnapped the princess or his villainous schemes. Liked the premise but the tone is all over the place from slapstick to grim to thoughtful.

Continuing through my library's graphic novel collection and read Claremont's Dark Phoenix saga. I've seen adaptations, and the 90s cartoon pretty closely follows it, but never read it before. Still good, though some stuff was dated. 24/25 #25booksin2025

Read a compilation of Green Lantern Earth One by Hardman, Bechko, and Boyd. Hal Jordan having to rebuild the Corp from a universe under the control of the Manhunters made for a compelling tale. The ring illuminating the bleached dreary coloring was a nice touch. 23/25 #25booksin2025

Read The Moon and Serpent Bumper Book of Magic by Alan and Steve Moore. Gorgeous book with amazing art talking about occult history, Kabbala and Tarot. Presents a bit as fun activities for children but it's got some pretty adult themes and content. 22/25 #25booksin2025

Read the Terminal City graphic novel by Dean Motter and Michael Lark. I love the vacuum tube tech retro futurism and it was interesting to see that in a state of urban decay. It's more of a slice of life, the story felt incidental. 21/25 #25booksin2025

Read The Fox Wife by Yangsze Choo.Tale about turn of the century China and a fox's revenge quest and an investigator trailing after her. I really enjoyed how it spent so much time in the day to day of life and getting to experience that time and place. #25booksin2025 18/25

Switched to non fiction and read the illustrated Life in the Ancient World, edited by Norman Bancroft Hunt. Surface level overview of Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Middle Ages, but i absorbed a lot about day to day life for pre-industrial societies. #25booksin2025 17/25
