Today, I sojourned to Selma, Alabama . I stood on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. I listened to stories of black residents of Selma. Their testimony. I prayed for my country. We must be better than this. We must be worthy of those who marched in 1965. This is our job, duty, responsibility, obligation

On Wednesday, I will be in Selma, Alabama at the Edmund Pettus Bridge, the site of Bloody Sunday. I will remember my mentor & teacher, John Lewis. I will remember my parents, who ran an integrated lunch counter in the Jim Crow south. I will pray that my country is not a lost cause. I am gutted
