Everyone has a story why they support unified care. Too many of us have lost family members because of denial and service. Too many of us have experienced harm to our bodies, or the bodies of the people that we love because of the challenges and problems in our current healthcare system.

Members of the Marion-Polk County Chapter of HCAO had an AMAZING weekend back at the Salem Art Fair the weekend of Sept 12-14. We gathered 300 signatures of new supporters, who are interested in an Oregon universal health care plan! 300 in a weekend! Pretty superb.

At this Sunday's HCAO Garden Party, we asked people why they were interested in universal healthcare, or if they have a personal story relating to health care that they would like to share. Every persons story has a common thread, which is the dysfunction of our current healthcare system.

Our current healthcare "system" is convoluted, confusing, and burdensome. People in Oregon should be able to access the care they need without the burden of dealing with out-of-state for-profit insurance companies that intentionally make the system hard to navigate.

Even with insurance, the care that Oregonians need still can still be incredibly expensive. This is an interview with one of our marchers in the Portland Pride Parade, this last July in downtown Portland.

Health Care for All Oregon had a prime spot in this July's Portland Pride Parade. Over 50 marchers volunteering to walk the parade, and many people interested in sharing their story about why they transition to universal healthcare is important to them.

The Western health alliance was announced by the governors of Washington, Oregon and California this week. This partnership aims to develop immunization guidelines and coordinate health policies.. Will these states continue to make health policy decisions based in science?

¡Todos Adentro! ¡Nadie Afuera! The Marion Polk County chapter of HCAO had a strong showing at the Woodburn Fiesta Mexicana this past Saturday, August 16th. We are grateful to be included in this multicultural event, and are glad to find more partners in this work towards a universal healthcare.

Judy, Jane, Collin, and Valdez were able to march in the Multnomah days parade this past Saturday! This SW. Portland St. festival is a staple of the community, and we were glad that HCAO had some friendly faces spreading information about Oregon's potential transition to universal healthcare.

Our 5K fun run: EVERY BODY IN was a total success this last Sunday in Salem's Minto Brown Island Park. Combining in person and remote runners we had about 100 participants, and raised significant funds for HCAO. Thanks to the Marion Polk County chapter of HCA or coma and the other race organizers!

Health insurers are denying more and more drug claims. Has this happened to you?

Thanks for the shout out, Andrew! There are three paths for Oregon to make this transition once the universal health plan governance board (oregon.gov/UHPGB) completes their final plan in 2026. 1)our legislative will implement this plan 2) they will referred to us voters, or 3) a ballot initiative.

I'm sure it's on people's minds, but @healthcareforallor.bsky.social is pretty all-in on single payer, and there are similar timelines for the same idea in California and Washington. So I'm saying unless and until this push fails, I doubt we'll hear a lot about more modest proposals.
