Our first concert in Birmingham! For a group that began in Cambridge, it feels improbable that we’d have performed in Birmingham, Alabama before Birmingham, UK. Yesterday, we finally put that right with a wonderful concert at the University of Birmingham.

A packed-out Wigmore Hall! It was a treat to be back at Wigmore Hall this afternoon to perform our Radiant Dawn programme with Matilda Lloyd. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate the release of our latest album! 💿

We performed FOUR concerts in one day on a tour of Cambridgeshire villages this weekend. From the early Renaissance, with works by Du Fay and Binchois in Girton and Fulbourn, through to Palestrina in Fen Ditton, culminating with music by our namesake in Grantchester.

Tomorrow we return ‘home’ for a four-concert tour of Cambridgeshire’s beautiful villages including Girton, Fulbourn, Fen Ditton and Grantchester. We’ll be sharing madrigals by Italian masters Palestrina and Gesualdo, alongside music by their English and European predecessors!

Cathedral Singing Day ✅ We had a wonderful time at “Lichfield for Singing” over the weekend. It’s a new initiative we’ve launched alongside the cathedral to share our love for singing with communities, and hope to take this all around the country.

New season, new programme ✅ Yesterday we premiered our newest programme, “The English in Europe” – a collection of works exploring the cross-fertilisation of musical ideas in 15th and 16th-century Europe. It was our first time in Thornbury, a pretty town outside of Bristol.

Too early for Halloween? 👻 Yesterday we filmed the trailer for our latest immersive theatre project. Deep underneath St Martin-in-the-Fields in London we found a suitably spooky spot to film a few moments from ‘Death of Gesualdo’. It premieres at SMITF in January and in NYC in Feb.

🎶Preparing for the season ahead! We spent yesterday putting the finishes touches to a new programme for the 2025/26 season. We’ll be debuting “The English in Europe” in Thornbury near Bristol on Friday. 🎙️The microphones made an appearance as we recorded a little teaser for a new project 👀

Scaling the heights! 🏔️ We loved our stint in the mountains earlier this month. On a free morning we climbed one of the mighty mountains – a little adventure to balance the music-making! 🎶✨ Later this week we’ll be in Rouen for a performance of ‘Mirror of Time’.

Mid-concert snaps 📸 Over the past few days, we’ve been singing from the mountaintops across the French Alps — five concerts in five truly breathtaking settings. These moments were captured during our “Mirror of Time” concert in Albertville.

Post-concert smiles 😃 We’re having a wonderful time singing around the French Alps. We’re touring ‘Mirror of Time’, a programme of Gesualdo’s musical inspirations from Northern Italy 🇮🇹 Tomorrow we’ll be in Valloire for our fifth concert of this Alps tour before home time! Phew.

A concert with a view 🏔️ One of the many joys of being a musician is the amazing places that it takes you. After a wonderful fortnight performing across North America, we’re now in the French Alps 🇫🇷 Tonight we’re singing in the church behind us, here in Valloire.

Signing off from tour in style 🌅 The sun has set on another unforgettable tour of North America - 15 concerts, 6 states, 2 countries, and countless memories. We saw some incredible places along the way, but few could rival the beauty of Chautauqua Lake, New York.

Thank you, Canada! 🇨🇦 We rounded off our North American tour with a wonderful afternoon concert in Ottawa. It was our third visit to Canada’s capital city, and it was lovely to return to the fantastic concert space at Carleton.

First concert in Canada 🇨🇦 We’re back in Canada for the first time since 2023 and made the group’s third visit to Elora. Our wonderful hosts Elizabeth & Stan and Susan made our return feel like a home away from home.

That’s a wrap on Secret Byrd! We’ve been touring this immersive vigil by candlelight across the states for the past week. Over the past week, we’ve given ten magical performances in LA, San Francisco, and, most recently, in Chicago with the Second City Musick & ViolMedium 🎻

Suited ’n’ booted Here we are in the magnificent Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Over the past five days, we’ve sung Byrd’s magisterial five-part Mass in eight performances of Secret Byrd. It’s a privilege to bring this music to life and continue discovering its emotional riches.

Spot the intruder… 🤔 We loved working with Tesserae Baroque in Los Angeles earlier this week. We’ve now given six of our ten performances of Secret Byrd in the USA this summer, with four more in Chicago to go. Featuring Alasdair during rehearsals for “Ye sacred muses” by William Byrd. 🎻

Secret Byrd is back 🕯️ It’s always a special moment dusting off the partbooks and donning the Renaissance outfits for Secret Byrd. We kicked off this 10-concert run of immersive performances earlier this week in LA, joined by Tesserae Baroque.

A concert in the woods 🌳 Last night’s performance of Wishing Tree in Mt Gretna, PA was magical. Nestled deep in the forest, The Playhouse — a wooden theatre with sweeping openings into the trees — made for a special setting.

That’s some hall! We kicked off our USA & Canada tour in some style with a concert in the Great Hall of The Breakers — the former Vanderbilt mansion in Newport, Rhode Island. Out its grand windows, the sun was setting over the Atlantic. The perfect spot for our ‘Fading’ programme, we think!

Touchdown in America 🇺🇸 
We’ve arrived in beautiful Newport, RI and are soaking up the sunshine before our first concert! A wander along the harbour and a good coffee have helped beat the jet lag ahead of tonight’s performance at The Breakers — a stunning 19th-century mansion overlooking the coast 🌊

🎶 World premiere 🌍 It was a real joy to perform “Nothing gold can stay”, a new work by Áine Mallon, at Cheltenham Music Festival yesterday. Composed as a response to “Faire is the rose” by Orlando Gibbons, Áine’s piece received its premiere in a programme celebrating music for voices and viol.

Getting the team back together! 🎺 It was a joy to reunite with Matilda Lloyd for performances of Radiant Dawn in Swanage and Thaxted over the past few days. Our album with Matilda - ‘Radiant Dawn’ - is out next month! 💿

We’re incredibly proud of Owain for his appointment as Chief Conductor of the BBC Singers. To those wondering, Owain will continue to direct G6, and we’re excited for lots of music-making and new adventures ahead! 🎶

Thank you Sweden 🇸🇪 We had a wonderful weekend performing in two of the most beautiful Swedish churches. Coming up is a week of collaborations, with concerts alongside trumpeter Matilda Lloyd in Thaxted and Swanage before we join forces with the viols of Chelys for a concert of Gibbons! 🎺 🎻

The British countryside was at its best last week for our debut at Stour Music Festival. There was sunshine, song, and a plentiful pre-concert buffet! This weekend we’re off to Sweden for concerts in Skara and Uppsala, before returning to the UK for a week of performances.

‼️ New collab incoming ‼️ We’ve just had our first rehearsal with the brilliant Chelys Consort of Viols! 🎻🎶 To mark 400 years since the death of Orlando Gibbons, we’re joining forces for a special performance at the Cheltenham Music Festival next Sunday – 6 July.

👶 Our newest member? Sam, who’s joined us while Guy is on paternity leave, brought along a very special guest to our concert in Burford earlier this week. She showed early signs of musical promise by sitting through the entire performance without making a peep 👼

From missile base to music space… It was a joy to return to Neuss for our second visit to the Insel Hombroich festival. We performed to a full house inside a former missile base—now a hub for arts and culture. Sorry to all those who were turned away – we hope to be back before too long!

And relax… It’s been a jam-packed start to the year! We’ve had concerts across the UK, Europe, and the USA, recorded an album, bid farewell to Mike and welcomed Simon into the family. Now, we have a few weeks off before a busy summer. We wish Josh safe travels as he embarks on his honeymoon!

🌳 An evening of folk songs and madrigals It was an idyllic English countryside scene in in a sun-soaked Hampshire for our ‘Wishing Tree’ programme. Next, we’re working with the students at Cranmore School towards a collaborative concert this evening!

Rehearsal day in London! We had a busy day getting to grips with some new music, though still managed to find some time to enjoy the beautiful sunshine! ☀️ This week we’re in Newbury and Cranmore for our last couple of concerts before some well-earned time off before a busy June!
