With all due respect to the fine folks in Seattle, it's actually a Hot Cat Summer! They made up 107 of our 148 adoptions last week and, yes, that is a lot of kitties!! But 41 dogs ain't too shabby either. We got lots more shelter pets still looking for their families, so the cuteness continues!

Puppy and kitten adoptions really heat up during the summer, but please don't forget about the amazing senior pets looking for homes. They are often calmer, come with more training under their collars and have well-established manners and personalities!

Piglet and her littermates just arrived at Seattle Humane through our friends at Kitsap Humane. Several of these adorable pups have genetic abnormalities common in double merle dogs, including sight and hearing impairment. This sweet baby is deaf and blind.

A bunch of cuteness just landed in the Puppy Express, and now these little loves are ready to cuddle up to their new families! Taffy, Tessa, Trudy and Truffles all came to Seattle Humane from Yakima Valley Pet Rescue earlier today with their brothers, Trident and Timber. Isn't that T-riffic?

Some folks carry their heart on their sleeve - Oli carries his on his nose! This big lug is very loving and still very playful at 7 years young. The other way to his heart is through his stomach, but just with food. If he shows you his belly, that's a trap!

Lavender and Rose take breakfast very seriously! They hopped over to Seattle Humane from their foster home looking to get adopted over the weekend but with no luck. These bonded buns are so much fun! They've been with us since January. Honestly, it's enough to make someone flip their bowl!

This Dog Bite Prevention Week we want to share expert advice on why dogs bite and how to prevent it from Dog Training Manager Christi Montgomery. Pets are family - we owe it to them to do what we can to make them feel safe, relaxed & not feel the need to bite.

We've got a little spring in our step this morning as we reflect on the 58 awesome adoptions that took place last week! We saw long-timers like Kenny and Kaya make their way home, as well as that transfer of chihuahuas seized in an animal cruelty case out of Lewis County. Back at it this week!

Lions and tigers and bears, oh my, are we glad Washington state just passed SB 5065! This bill prohibits the use of elephants, bears, wild cats and nonhuman primates in circuses and traveling shows!

There's nothing wrong with 85 adoptions. That's a solid B+, but all of these pets are straight A-dorable! The sun came out for that Seattle Fool's Spring and people had to soak it up. Well, we hope you got enough vitamin D for a while. We'll be back to completing families tomorrow, rain or shine!

The sun came out to help us greet 26 dogs and 13 cats arriving from Johnson County Animal Services, one of Kentucky's shelters heavily impacted by devastating flood waters across the state. This was an incredible effort made possible through our friends at Wings of Rescue.

Plato likes to think deep thoughts about balls! Oddly, we have not been getting hounded with adoption interest for this handsome fella. He's lived with another dog and child before, but he has a no-cat philosophy about life. Plato would love a good game of fetch with a few cuddle breaks thrown in.

That winter-loving rodent tried his best, but we're not letting a little snow stop us from completing your family today! The parking lot is plowed, and we'll be open normal hours today. A big shout out to all of the staff and volunteers who braved an icy commute to save and serve pets in need!

We sure hope our awesome adoption team is resting up after sending home 134 pets last week! All of those SoCal pets WHO WERE IN THE SHELTER SYSTEM BEFORE THE WILDFIRES HIT found their families, but they didn't overshadow our long-timers, because we also bid a fond farewell to Rufus and Celeste!

We've joined our friends with Wings of Rescue and Paws For Life K9 Rescue to pull pets from shelters in the Los Angeles area and bring them here on a much-needed rescue flight. This will free up shelters to intake the many pets displaced by these wildfires and reunite them with their families. 1/3

Raya is back on campus after a long stay in a loving foster home, and she would love to be done with all that back and forth. After all, she's already been at Seattle Humane for more than 100 days! Sweet, smart and easygoing, you need a Raya sunshine to warm up your winter and, well, every season.

Millie doesn't mind the rain because she brings her own umbrellas everywhere she goes. What does bother her is that every dog that came in with her on a Lifesaver Rescue transfer back in November has been adopted! She has her ears and paws crossed that she gets a Millie-on adoption requests today!!

We very much appreciate artists from Pokémon volunteering their talents to illustrate how amazing our shelter pets are. Katy has had a drawn out stay here at Seattle Humane. Her foster mom says she's got lots of playful energy for a senior cat and loves to cuddle. Just picture Katy in your family?

Scooter is a beautiful beagle baby and such a lover boy! He flew all the way from Oklahoma to finally find a family. As you can probably tell, he is full of energy and loves to play. He does great with other dogs and loves to scoot around the yard! Check him out at Seattle Humane.
