Graduating high school in 2009, my plans for the following two years fell through. Nothing was happening for me how I expected, and so I also fell into a rut with my music. But I muddled through, attempting to emulate the sounds of Cave Story (using pxTone) and CPS2 games (using CPS2 soundfonts).

Here's the last of "JRPG music saga" Phanterm. Can't include everything, but closing it out with two dungeon themes. The first is a playful forest theme, and the other is just generically "dungeon". I had a lot of fun with making the percussive melodies. I feel that might be my specialty...

A couple more sets of JRPG music; this time we're on dungeon themes. Fennoxie Swamp was my attempt to play with some of the weirder sounds I'd loved from Nobuo. Very happy with how it turned out. Battle Meditation was yet another fight theme. Was directed to get a "halfway point" sort of vibe.

Some spells have unique interactions where you must hold down the button to continue casting. With Flotilla, entering the hurt state while continuing to hold down that button will ensure a "max_knives" flag is never set. If you re-equip the spell here, it softlocks the game. I fixed this but lol

More JRPG music! I love writing villain themes. I dunno what it is; maybe it's being able to indulge in those Bach-like licks. I also like writing battle music, if you couldn't tell already. A Different League was to be the 'normal' boss theme for this project. (also, Forbidden Forlae leitmotif :3)

Another song for the OHR project. I'll post a couple of these for a few days, because I think this was the first time I felt like I was understanding the process of naturally working structure into a song without really thinking about it. This was a theme for an ancient, mystical ruin.

I later worked on a project for the OHRRPGCE (Official Hamster Republic Role Playing Game Construction Engine. only real ones know) and wrote ~20 tracks on it, I think? On a technicality, Destrega’s Zauber has a Tidu (square button attack) that will instantly travel to its target upon being cast when used by itself. This is due to a bug. However, it means that this dude gets a global, instant poke in what is a 3D arena fighter. Just insane.
