Spent 16.5 hours working on an illustration for one of my poems—so that you might, perhaps, glance at the result for a few seconds.

Several dozen more hours leaked into the void while I scratched at my tablet—hoping, often in vain, to see something on the screen I could tolerate. After a year and a half of this irregular ritual, I have lost count, but I believe 135 hours is close enough. It will end someday. Everything does.

"Flames Breathe, Ashes Remember" A bracelet, a watch strap, a card, and a sticker. All two-sided, except for the latter (which would be fun yet a bit impractical). I drew the fire and the ashes for someone else's production and marketing headache. A perfect arrangement.

I hardly ever remember my dreams. This poem I tried to illustrate is the result—a cry from a luckless dreamer so desperate for a vision that he prays to any god who might listen, from biblical to Greek to Lovecraftian, blurring the lines of belief in his search. #poem #poetry #poemillustration

This is my lovely daughter, Courtney. The worms have spread to her heart and the doctor says she can’t eat toads anymore. Unfortunately, I can’t bring myself to stop her.

Wrapping up another illustration for my questionable poetry book. Somewhere past the 10-hour mark, I hit a spiral of total hatred for this drawing and myself. I considered starting from scratch, but pushed through, and I think the fever is finally breaking. For now. #inkdrawing #inkart #wipart
