Worrying days for The Shetland Times and all of us. We hold all the editions on microfilm and it’s an essential historical resource. If we lose our newspapers it gets much harder to find and preserve consistent output by trained journalists.

You can’t beat a good notice board! There’s never enough space on our boards so remember to have a look at the clipboards too. This big board is for library and community events. It’s hard to keep up with everything that’s happening in Shetland so remember to check What's on Shetland’s website too.

Since approximately 1966 we think, our Council gardeners have been taking care of these planters outside the Library. We rarely see them come and go - it’s like magic flowers just appear 🙂
