First publication of the year! We set up an image-based quantification of seed phenotypes (here Arabidopsis thaliana). It comes together with a random forest classifier for our favorite phenotype, seed abortion.

I’m thrilled to share my latest research with @claudiakohler11.bsky.social in @mpi-mp-potsdam.bsky.social, now published in @natplants.nature.com ! In this work, we reveal that long-distance transported siRNAs from maternal sporophytic tissues are functional in pollen development and reproduction.

It's great to see this work finally out! @newphyt.bsky.social Here we showed that auxin production after fertilization is a conserved, paternal-triggered mechanism for seed initiation in angiosperms.
