Shippers are not too excited about the consolidation of power either and what it would mean for reduce their competitive options, likely lead to higher rates, and worse service (as if it could get any worse.)

Based on past experiences, the merger is a big concern for passenger rail.

At least one of the unions is taking a public stance and opposing.
