I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm all for a 7% pay increase, and a 35 hour week - and there's a reasonable argument that staff in the sector deserve it. In terms of timing & optics? Damn. I've seen more self-awareness in a bag of rocks...

This is classy. I think Starmer has got it wrong on where we should stand relative to Europe and the US but this is one of the first times I've admired him since he became PM.
