Much discussion about AI. Choosing the right time to use AI is key, says Isabella. “There are things we can’t really replace… there is a huge human component in getting these things right.”

“We ought to be able to shop around to find the best evidence to support our everyday lives & decisions,” says @kerryalbright.bsky.social. To take findings & share them in much more accessible ways (incl soap opera, dance, song) that resonate with audiences, while not losing research integrity.

Showing the value of this work, and building legitimacy for it is an ongoing challenge, says @kerryalbright.bsky.social.

A challenge is the breadth of skills needed & the legitimacy you need to build, says Isabella. Trust-building is key: “Why would the end-user choose your view over others?” E.g. If you’re talking to teachers, convincing them requires different sources, ways of working & advocacy than politicians.

What tools & skills do intermediaries need? "You have to be a connector across different sectors & interests" says @kerryalbright.bsky.social. Be a social listener, be able to see the bigger picture, be able to understand emerging trends & concerns.

What is an evidence intermediary? Our speakers describe them as organisations or individuals that bridge gaps between #evidence #research #practice & #policy. They bring together users & generators of research evidence with decision makers, to improve what is done in policy & practice.
