Wilma died. I’m just glad I gave her a long, leisurely life after she and her sister lived at the preschool. She and Betty both lived to be 11 years old, which is very old for a goat, so I did my job, and I’m happy I completed that job how I wanted to.

Timeline cleanse

Gomez and Morticia’s year has been hectic. On their third physical nest of the year, they are down to one offspring of three, maybe four, leaving room for error, but the roller coaster drama of “are their offspring dead, oh my god I found one” has been insane. They have ravenling left. Here it is. 🪶

Cooling off yesterday

Sooooo… the next day, he wandered into the road. We removed him to give Gomez and Morticia time to mourn in a safe place, because they do mourn every time they lose an offspring, before we buried him.

It’s been a stressful few days for Gomez and Morticia. Their two remaining ravenlings fledged, but we are confident only one survived the feat. We thought both were victims of predation, as fledging is a dangerous time, but we found one in the horse pasture after missing for 24 hours. 🪶

I just changed out a flat tire for a man and his pregnant wife. I’m probably overthinking this, but I can’t stop wondering how many people would have kept going just because the wife wore a headscarf. Maybe I don’t give my small town enough credit, but the news is full of terrible things lately.

Gomez and his glory. 🪶 Raven Update: Gomez and Morticia recently lost one of their young, but they’ve got two more. I’ve seen three broods since they picked my vicinity. 2/3 fledged in 2023, 3/3 in 2024, and it looks like 2/3 for 2025. Nest is on the transformer on the pole. #crittercam
