Working on the Sleeping Beauty ballet (from the 1880s), and surprising no one, Disney took music from it for its movie. And yet, every night I am pissed off that the melody for Once Upon a Dream isn’t a romantic pas da deux but is a bunch of village maids. Solid branding work by Disney, that.

Swan Lake perf 2 Trying to recreate the magical moment of our first rehearsal. We sorta buried the carpenters in chest high fog and they couldn’t find the brakes on the platform they were moving. Or the platform itself. But swinging it 180 creating a HUGE head-high wave of fog? That was on them.
