Two more metal studies. Polished bronze and tarnished silver! Sharp-ish reflections that show the environment vs dull highlights and discoloration

A second study: rusted iron - Highlights only show up where the rust is worn away - No reflections of the environment - Surprising variations in brightness and hues of the rust - Texture is very important. Again, brushes help - details of iron shining through and holes appearing sell the illusion

Doing some material studies to get rid of the everything looks like plastic syndrome. First off: Iron - Lot's of midtone. Bright highlights. Dark darks - Some reflection of the environment's values - texture brushes help sell the "well worn" look - gradients everywhere

2017 vs 2025. Glad to see I've improved. Interesting to see I enjoyed certain color palettes then already :)
