Basic process breakdown: I block in the BG elements into vector shapes. After I build all the shapes, it leaves me with this weird colorful mosaic of pieces. Then I can select each piece and color it. Its kind of like Paint-By-Numbers. This only really works with a blocky shape style.

I was breaking down a class for Domestika and then they literally went to shit (facing bankruptcy/ haven’t paid their creators, etc.) Bad timing. Does anyone know of any other online classes/websites that take new teachers?

Simplified breakdown. This concept had specific reference, which makes it easier. I start by sketching out blobs. Then I start polishing, consolidating forms so they read clearly. Every step is trying to achieve the mood and image in my mind.
