Pretty exciting - Vera Rubin reveals in its press conference that the telescope detected 2,104 new asteroids and 7 space objects close to Earth. For context, all other space and ground surveys combined usually find about 20,000 asteroids in a year.

An intense marine heatwave has developed in the UK and Ireland - with anomalies of 5C found in at least one area. The impacts probably aren't as severe as it would be in summer, but it's a worrying sign of what is likely to happen more often as climate change continues to warm our oceans.
