On Monday, I was proud to join a peaceful protest against ICE organized by Naperville Central High School students. It was great to be with these inspiring young leaders before I head back to Washington to continue pressuring Republicans to enact real reforms to DHS and ICE.

Today, we mourn the passing of Reverend Jesse Jackson, a giant of the civil rights movement. Throughout his lifetime of advocacy, he was a voice for the voiceless and strengthened our commitment to justice for all.

It's hard to believe it's been 7 years since the Henry Pratt shooting in Aurora. My heart is with the Aurora community today as we remember the innocent lives taken too soon and the police officers harmed. Congress must implement reforms to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.

Today, funding for DHS has lapsed and the agency has shut down. Democrats have proposed commonsense reforms to DHS and ICE. As long as Republicans refuse to implement these measures, I will vote against funding for the agency.

Trump's out-of-control tariffs have raised costs for consumers and hurt American manufacturers. Tonight, Republicans joined Democrats in the House to stand up to this administration and rebuke the tariffs on Canada. I'm glad Congress is reclaiming our authority on trade policy.

Trump has denied FEMA disaster relief funds for communities in my district across Boone, Cook, Kane, McHenry, and Will counties. Trump explicitly tied this disaster relief to politics—saying that relief funds he granted Alaska and North Dakota were because they voted for him "BIG" in past elections.

It was great to be in Bolingbrook this past weekend for the Black History Month Awareness Club's annual celebration! Black history is American history. This month and every month, we honor the contributions and resilience of Black Americans.
