i do enjoy chatting up Alder/Mayoral candidates speaking to the positives of safe streets & better transit wild how thin skin some are, I get 💩 and roll along, they get & use it as a reason to fight harder against safe streets whining about rude cyclists. if you run 4 office expect to get 💩

i plan on calling and asking to talk with each declared candidate, or at the least their staff, to speak about safety on our streets & that this election can’t be allowed to turn into 🚲 v 🚗 warts&all Chicago Complete Streets is a good idea to improve transit efficiency, pedestrian/bike/car safety

i am curious about the concerns over gentrification leading community stakeholders to fight things like safe streets, trees, efficient transit, and other things that improve the QOL. if the city builds these things as a matter of course across the entire city all Chicagoans benefit, right?

i do enjoy calling Alder Offices to let them know they are being used online as reasons to stand in the way of safe streets you can find good information about their position on policy when presenting as an ally by letting them know they are being misrepresented

after our loss the bike community gave me a place to vent & look for change. the number of folks that I now consider friends & allies is great. side note my recovery was long & difficult. no car payment/being in our space for a while/15min city vibe allowed us to weather the storm so we could heal

the argument against safe streets revolves around permission from the abuser we are trying to protect ourselves from

frustrating when you are told that the Constitution prevents safety equipment being installed on Semi Trailers knowing that Obama and Biden tried to make side under guards mandatory but the Trump Admin specifically removed that mandate at the beginning of both of his terms

we should require CDOT to allocate funds based on traffic type. Chicago has a 27% transit walk roll average. 27% of CDOTs budget could build BRT, bike lanes galore… imagine if we went further and lakefront wards would see upwards of 40% dedicated to transit/walk/roll transformative

is it just me or is attacking transit efficiency, ped/bike safety initiatives a foolish prospect any time but especially while there is an oil war going on driving the cost of driving way up showcase how a city can run, don’t kneecap it and punish those who can least afford to be punished

just on the 78, when it turned N on to Clark it struck me, kinda looking forward to riding the PBL next to the sidewalk under a canopy of trees this summer. it will be pretty transformative

disliking the anti safe streets crowd and GOP politicians use “safer streets” in their ads and “advocacy” almost as if they know the Safe Streets are winners but they want to hurt real efforts to make our roads more efficient and safe till AVs come on line

is there anyway to find out how many Uber/Lyft drivers are on our streets during rush hours? or fast Amazon/GrubHubbers in cars i get the feeling these convenience service drivers might cause more congestion than what you think transit/bike lanes have on the convenience of your car

the fight against bike/ped/transit infra safety/efficiency drivers are having now… am i wrong to suggest that when AV is ready these same drivers will wish they had worked with Complete Streets to build better systems to avoid the AV takeover AV is going to run us all of the roads

if you are an Alder in Chicago that is against CDOT’s Complete Streets Ordinance AND against Speed Cameras you can not claim to be thinking about your constituents lives/💵… you are only thinking about easy votes and decisions
