A sinking feeling had long since settled in her gut, gaze darting to the small wound on his neck and then down to the bloody side. If only her own immunity could help hi— Shaking the thought from her head, Raika focused on tending to the man, cleaning and applying a gauze on the injury.

Whatever emotions she’d experienced moments ago were quickly buried beneath the surface once again. She knew better than to allow such human weaknesses to affect someone like her.
