The absurdity of militarized policing is that the military-industrial complex arose to solve problems of over-accumulation in the first place. Mass incarceration is then a patch on a patch.

IMO Statesian prosperity was largely due to the switch to the permanent war economy during WW2 and then the subsequent switch to mass incarceration during the 70s. Now the USA is doing "border security" and more war.

People get really weird about the better off strata of workers with better conditions and pay and which for a few have the dangerous possibility of advancing to the status of capitalist. I would focus on organizing the lower strata but I would mostly remain neutral towards the better off.

I don't think "development" of the imperial periphery is possible. Capitalists invest abroad because of the falling rate of profit and because they can get desperate people abroad to work for cheap. So capitalists offshored resource extraction, manufacturing and some services.

I suspect the changing nature of modern warfare has as much to do with the development of new capital intensive industries as much as anything else. Whatever national security concerns can be used to fund semiconductors, telecommunications, pharmaceuticals and so on.

Too many people moralize capitalism as a matter of greed. The capitalists largely skim money off the top. The problem with commodity production is that an increasingly large share of money must be devoted to reinvestment in growing the firm.
