Kind of weird to hear that Supreme quoted from my 2014 Aphex Twin feature in their new merch drop with him. I hope that doesn't mean I've become a hypebeast by association

This 2001 Moodymann 12” goes crazy. It cuts up the Detroit radio DJ Mojo’s famed ‘86 interview with Prince, chopping the questions to sound like an interview with Moody. The beat beneath is murky and hard-hitting, then shifts into a lighter, jazzier Rhodes flex. 🔥

Spending a lot of time lately with this little-known Stereolab side project from 1997, a collaboration between Tim Gane, Andy Ramsay, and the High Llamas' Sean O'Hagan. Released just a month before 'Dots and Loops,' it applies some of that album's best qualities to a 'library music' setting.

Quick look back at how weird Pitchfork Fest was in its early days: this 2008 backstage tour by a very young Bradford Cox of Deerhunter, who interviews Bon Iver, No Age, Health, Jay Reatard, and a bunch of other hipsters before ripping a guitar solo onstage with Spoon.

I only attended the Pitchfork Fest in Chicago once, in 2017, but I'm still saddened. The festival has been a focal point for a living, breathing community of fans and listeners in an era when disconnectedness has been the predominant cultural narrative.

I'll be sincere about Pitchfork Fest, it was three supreme days of summer, a more perfect festival did not exist when it began. You watched bands, maybe you got a little fucked up, you hugged new friends, it was a happy, stressful, unforgettable time and place. Its loss will be a crater in my heart

From the folks who lived (and read) it: Slate's oral history of Pitchfork documents the indie bible's rise and fall, from its goofball origins and buzz-building heydey to its eventual corporatization and— well, whatever it is now. 40 interviews, 12,000 words, 0.0 fucks.

Extremely saddened by the news that Condé Nast has chosen to restructure Pitchfork and lay off so much of its staff, including some who've been integral to its operations for many years/decades. Sending love to everyone affected and hoping for the best for its future.
