A wonderful week at Dharriwaa (Narren Lakes) doing vegetation inventories — birds everywhere, lush lignum, rich ground cover. Totally worlds away from the Swedish ditches I’ve been studying. Grateful for this work.

Ditches, often overlooked yet widespread, shape biodiversity, ecosystems, and biogeochemical cycles— bringing both benefits and costs! A big thanks to @peatymike.bsky.social and @ditchontologist.bsky.social for spearheading and steering this paper to fruition.

Just back from a awesome week at #INTECOLWETLANDS2025! Loved diving deep into all things #peat. Especially fascinated by the challenges of restoring peatlands after extraction rewetting is a start, but it’s definitely not the whole story.
