Join me on the 30th for the closing night of Picking up the Pieces, my current exhibition at Inverlochy Art School. To commemorate the end of this latest show, I have curated a line-up of incredible poets for an evening of readings that respond to the themes and ideas in the artworks.

This suite of small canvas works is Sixteen Doses, currently showing as part of Picking up the Pieces at Inverlochy Art School. Can vulnerability be flipped on its head, or made into an opportunity? If a pill is hard to swallow, perhaps chop it up first.

This is Handling Instructions, one of the last pieces I completed in 2025. It’s just been hung on a wall at Inverlochy Art School as part of my new show Picking up the Pieces, opening there tomorrow.

Recently I have been watching with delight a pair of blackbirds nesting in the grapevine on the veranda. A week ago some chicks hatched and the parents have been flying back and forth constantly with worms to sate their screaming young: two demanding triangle beaks poking above the twiggy rim.

We're delighted to announce New Days for Old by James Brown, out 13 March 2026. A life story in small scenes: funny, moving, erotic, political and undeniably odd. The NZ Lyrical Ballads cover has a sibling. Here is the UK cover for Bill Manhire’s new collection, publishing in March by Carcanet (Feb in NZ by Te Herenga Waka!) This cover features an 18th century mezzotint plate by Thomas Wright from his An Original Theory or New Hypothesis of the Universe.
