In this installment of the Week Without Fear from Issues With Cartoons, Daredevil falls into the sights of The Punisher in Daredevil #183 (February 23rd 1982) Written by Roger McKenzie and Frank Miller, Drawn by Frank Miller, inked and colored by Klaus Janson and lettered by Joe Rosen.

A battle to the death between Bullseye and the Kingpin's new assassin Elektra reaches a climatic finish with Daredevil caught in the middle. Daredevil #181 (April 1982) was written and illustrated by Frank Miller with finished art and inks by Klaus Janson. Edited by Denny O'Neil with Ralph Macchio.

Everything changed for Daredevil when Frank Miller became the writer/artist (with embellishments by Klaus Janson), and much of that can be attributed to the introduction of Elektra Natchios as seen in today’s installment of Daredevil Week. 🧵

This episode’s title comes from Captain America Comics 1: “Meet Captain America” by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. A classic Marvel rogue breaks onto the scene in “The Riddle of the Red Skull.” Rounding out the comics talk is Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s Sgt. Fury and his Howling Commandos #1.

Episode 4 is chock-full of pulpy Golden Age action, gorgeous cinematography and designs, classic comic book fan-service, and tantalizing teases of things to come. There are even a couple of unexpected guest stars that appear!

We read the Hulk origin for this week’s episode and it did not disappoint!

Iron Man has changed quite a bit since he was introduced in 1962, something Carl and Kyle discuss in the debut episode of Issues With Cartoons where they review the Armored Avenger’s introduction in Takes of Suspense 39.
