Mimbre Youth has been incredibly fortunate over the last few months to be supported by some amazing organisations. We want to give a special shout out to Charles S French, Chapman Trust, BSDMF, Wayne Walters and @artscouncilengland.bsky.social. We truly could not do any of this without you.

We had a brilliant time at the National Centre for Circus Arts’ recent National Youth Circus Day. Our participants had a chance to try equipment they wouldn’t usually have access to and we met some really great people. It’s so important for our young people to be given opportunities like this.

We are incredibly grateful to the National Lottery (and especially the #NationalLottery players!) for funding this year’s Mimbre Youth classes. Mimbre Youth uses streetdance and circus classes for 6 to 15-year-olds to bring Hackney communities together across financial and geographical barriers.

A ten-year strategy has been launched with the aim to strengthen the outdoor arts sector and call for it to be considered “integral” within policy development and cultural strategies.

Earlier this spring, the cast of Weight(less) headed to Margaret River, Australia, to teach an incredibly talented group of young people (Margaret River Circus School and CircusWA) a little bit about Mimbre’s artistic methods and innovative devising techniques. Thanks for having us!

Thank you so much Fremantle Street Arts Festival for having us! After over 20 years of performing, this was our first trip to Australia. Really hope it won't be our last. Here are a few snippets of us performing Weight(less) to over 6,000 people across the Easter weekend.

We loved our Hip Hop Dance Intensive a couple of weeks ago! From one of the youth organisers: “Each day the participants were led by a different dance tutor, they all taught a different style of hip hop or under the umbrella term for hip hop. I selected the tutors with support from my dance tutor."

We are really grateful to be supported by Hackney Council through their #HealthierHackney funding. Check out these pictures from our recent ‘Teach the Adults’ session where our participants got to teach some of the moves they’d recently learnt to their friends and families.

We recently spent a week training with Tuk Frederiksen, an experienced acrobat and coach (from Cie XY). Tuk supported the core Weight(less) team in refining and developing their trio technique, while also leading three afternoon sessions with Mimbre’s wider group of associated acrobats. #LetsCreate
