I played a game of snakes and ladders with my kid this morning and I didn't land on a single snake or ladder. As flawed as this zero-skill game is, nothing makes you appreciate the beauty of its design like a snakeless, ladderless run. I found myself longing for a snake even, anything to feel alive.
